ABOUT

Bangladesh Alliance of Youth (BAY) is a youth-led initiative committed to working together and raising a strong voice for a safe, sustainable, and inclusive city in Chattogram. Save the Children and YPSA have collaborated to launch this initiative, which aims to empower youth-based organizations, promote youth’s actions, and provide a platform for youth voices to be heard. So far, 22 Chattogram-based youth organizations have joined the alliance and are working together effectively to address water logging crisis, improve waste management, promote youth actions to climate change, protect Khal’s and canals in Chattogram from pollution and make a clean and green Chattogram as key advocacy agenda.

The ‘Bangladesh Alliance of Youth (BAY)’ was formally established on October 6, 2021, following a few virtual meetings, among the potential members and effectively.

Management And Coordination Structure

Executive Committee

Duration: 2 Years

Organogram

12 organizations have been recommended as members of the Executive Committee for the upcoming two years.

Advisory Committee

The committee will be formed for three years and will include members from CSOs, renowned urban experts, development professionals, and Chattogram’s prominent personalities. The committee will consist of five members chosen by the EC Committee.

Secretariat of the alliance

  • The alliance will have a Secretariat and rotationally the Secretariat will be moved to member organizations every two years.
  • Executive Committee will support the Secretariat to implement the agreed work plan of the alliance.
  • The member organization for Secretariat and Convener will be selected in the members meeting of the alliance in consultation with the member organization and the Advisory Committee.

Function

  • There will be a bi-monthly and six-monthly general meeting.
  • A bi-annual General Assembly will be held.
  • Seminars, dialogues and consultations, conferences, advocacy campaign, policy support, movement, media statement and research symposiums will be held on a regular basis by the Alliance.
  • The alliance members will prepare a yearly joint action plan to implement, and the Executive Committee will strive to follow up and implement the plan.
  • Once the Executive Committee is in place, a communication and advocacy strategy will be developed.
